Our babies are growing up. Both William and Maxwell are walking; while Maxwell was first, William is more consistent.
We consulted a surgeon in early May to discuss Maxwell’s inguinal hernia. Yesterday, Maxwell had a small surgical procedure to fix the hernia. It took a lot of planning and effort—I got up at 3 am to get Maxwell to the hospital by 5:30 am. Curtis had to get up well before his usual time in order to drive Matthew to school.
They wheeled Max into the operating room at 7:30.

He was done by 8:25. We waited a while in recovery because he got a big dose of anesthesia.

We got home at 11:45, just in time for lunch and a big nap. By 4 pm, it was as if it hadn’t happened.
And then—funny story—when his nanny went to awaken him this morning, he had taken off his diaper and had pooped all over the crib and himself. Good times.
In the meantime, Matthew has decided that he is attached to a Matthew-sized piece of luggage. We practiced using the zippers and the travel case now bears two plastic trucks and a plastic Happy Birthday tablecloth, presumably for our numerous washable Happy Birthday tablecloth needs.
He went to the airport (the one on our patio).
Even better, we walk along our street at night with our luggage, as we head to another airport.
We visit our neighbors’ fountains and comment on where the water comes from, where it goes, and why it has different colors. (He has difficulty accepting that the lighting gives it a different color.)
Sometimes, we stop to explore how the landscape lighting works.

Mind you, none of this is accomplished silently: Matthew has questions and opinions and he is not shy about sharing. If you see ears bleeding, you’ll know what happened.
Love the suitcase activities - adorable!
Matthew walks with such a purposeful stride! So cute!!
